&lt;p&gt;I know of some issues with the RTM version, driver issues I believe, that cause some Windows Vista machines to stop booting up.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;These issues will (one would hope) be ironed out by the time you come to download the update from Microsoft.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also, &lt;a href="http://www.coventrycomputercare.com/blog/2008/02/22/vista-sp1-not-compatible-with-some-security-applications/" rel="nofollow"&gt;SP1 is not compatible with some third-party security applications&lt;/a&gt; - so you may want to check to ensure you don't have an issue there.&lt;/p&gt;
